Throughout history there have been numerous murders of hierarchical figures to gain power. These murders show a distinct correlation with the theme of Death and Power in William Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Yes ma'am I can think of some. Well lets see here, holocaust pos? In greek, "holocaust" means "sacrafice by fire." Not necessary bloody, but it's the same concept. Hitler disposed of those who did not fit into the category of being "racially superior." He wanted to exterminate all who didn't "belong". By the year of 1945, Hitler and his many followers had killed two out of every three Jews in Europe to complete the "Final Solution," a Nazi policy enacted to rid of all the Jews in Europe.
Courteny, Darling! I would say the whole Rwandan Genocide is an example because the Hutu group was being oppressed by the Tuti. They rebelled by overthrowing the Tuti leader and killing all in the Tuti ethnic group. In response, the Tuti rebel force was marching to the captial of Rwanda to fight the Hutu government. Basically, it was a lot of killing and bloodshed to gain control of a) the government and b) the people
hmmm i think that maybe the counrty of Afghanistan. First Russia, then the Taliban. just in general the country has been at war for the past couple decades.
The Russian Revolution was pretty sicknasty bloody i'd say. People didn't like how the Czar was running the show so they killed him and his family.. pretty tradgic, and BLOODY!
As everyone has already mentioned, The Holocaust, Rwanda, as well as all the wars in the world's history are all prime examples of blood being shed for power. No matter where or when the genocide or war is taking place, the same thing happens each time. There is one person or group who want to gain power of land, of other people, the government, etc. and feel the only way to successfully obtain power is to kill other people.
I think Alexander the Great is also a good example, though there are tons of others througout history. In every major conflict, there is always some need for more power and authority behind it.
One that comes to mind is the American Revolution. The U.S. had to fight for their freedom and many lives were lost through the process. But in this case the U.S. was gaining power because England wouldn't give them the proper power especially in parliament.
